Jill Deborah Majeed (nee Davison) entered the world on Christmas Eve (December 24,1950) and left it on Christmas Day (December 25, 2025), surrounded by the season she cherished with all its sparkle and light.
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland to Arthur and Deborah Davison, she is predeceased by her parents, her brothers, Andrew Baxter and John Davison, and deeply missed by her younger sister Isabel Compton.
She was a loving wife and true partner to Shameer Majeed for 51 years. First meeting in the Summer of 1969 as nursing students at St. Olave’s Hospital in London, England and later marrying in August 1974, Jill and Shameer journeyed through life side by side in a shared adventure. Immigrating to Montreal, Quebec in 1975 their bond forged by love, built on respect and adoration, and sustained through unwavering support, was felt by all those who knew them.
As a Registered Nurse, Jill was an insightful and compassionate practitioner, from neonatal newborns to elder care. As her children grew up, Jill grew professionally in her field, taking on additional leadership roles and providing guidance for generations of nurses. She will be remembered by colleagues for her steady and compassionate leadership and care.
Jill was an extraordinary mother to Michelle (Aaron), Allison (Marc), Courtney (Manuel) and Phillip (Andrea) and dear aunt to Debbie as she played an important role in her life. She guided her children with love, honesty, strength, and reassurance. Offering up wisdom and support only she could provide. Through long talks, sage advice, and a soft but firm shoulder to relax or cry on, Jill challenged and comforted her children as they faced all of life’s challenges.
As a mother-in-law, welding warmth and withering looks. Jill reminded her sons-in-law that love and respect go hand in hand. Alongside Shameer, she provided a blueprint for a long and lasting love.
A proud and loving grandmother to Lucien, Magnusson, Harper, and Isabel, she adored her grandchildren and could always be counted on for sleepovers with pancakes, sick-day support, and an engaged audience for all their shows. She cherished every moment with them, celebrating their individual passions and adventures with cheers, hugs, and bouquets of flowers.
She moved through life with courage and conviction. She made bold choices, adapted with grace, and met challenges with resilience and determination. A fierce protector of those she loved, people were drawn to her confidence, honesty, and strength, often delivered in her signature dry and witty way. She embraced life with curiosity, delighting in its richness and special moments. She leaves a lasting presence of a strong, capable woman, wife, mother, grandmother, and leader. Those who knew her were better for it. She will be forever loved and deeply missed.
As an expression of sympathy please feel free to shower Jill with flowers.
