June 24, 1955 - June 1, 2015

Jeff passed away peacefully on June 1, 2015, ending his battle with stage four colon cancer. He was the beloved husband of Alison Findlay and the late Sophia De Jonge, loving father of Catherine, Elizabeth, Alexander and Emma and step-father to Isabel, Blythe and Liam. His father Murray and his mother Marion predeceased him. He leaves behind his brother Doug and his sister Katherine.

Jeff graduated from University of Toronto School as athlete of the year and obtained his B. Arch from Carleton University. After practicing architecture, Jeff co-founded Kingwood Homes as the director of real estate development. He leaves behind his passion for architecture and beauty, embedded in his family’s homes and instilled within his children. Happiest when he was active, Jeff loved cycling, playing squash and working out with his children at the Granite Club, hiking up and skiing down Collingwood’s hills, and water skiing. Above all, he cherished the tranquility and beauty of the family cottage on Lake of Bays he designed for the purpose of bringing his loved ones together. Jeff was respected for his boundless love and dedication to raising his four children, his wisdom, wit, selflessness, artistry and enthusiasm. Pursuing his love for travel, Jeff backpacked across the United States, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Europe as a young man. He later brought his family to the places that enchanted him in Europe, such as Rome and Todi, Italy. Alongside his family, he also visited the Galapagos Islands, Hawaii, and various islands in the Carribean, including Mexico this past Christmas. Jeff’s family thanks the staff and caregivers at Mount Sinai Hospital, the Temmy Latner Centre, St. Elizabeth Healthcare and Kensington Hospice for their dedication and compassion.

A visitation service will take place at Mount Pleasant Visitation Centre, 375 Mt Pleasant Road, Toronto on Monday, June 9 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Rosedale United Church, 159 Roxborough Drrive, on Tuesday, June 10 at 11 am. Reception will follow at the family’s home at 1:45 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada.
