<div itemprop="description">It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Beatrice Jean Snell on Oct. 17, 2013, at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. Born in Brady, Montana, on March 28, 1917, she was predeceased by her husband, E.R. (Roy) Snell. She leaves nieces Judy Kucera (Henry) and Jeanne McDonald, nephews Ralph Coleman (Sonia), Richard Coleman (Debbie) and Norris McDonald (Susan) and many adoring grandnieces and nephews and great-grandnieces and nephews. Jean was the last surviving of four girls (Helen Geddes, Dorothy McDonald, Roberta Coleman and Jean) who were born in Montana and came to Toronto with their Canadian mother (Sybella Bulmer, Listowel) in the 1920s. Following her retirement as secretary to the principal of Duke of York Public School in downtown Toronto, Jean graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and the family celebrated her wonderful accomplishment at the Granite Club, where she was a proud member. For many years, she enjoyed her work with the Sunnybrook Hospital Volunteer Association, serving as its president for several of them. She had a wide circle of friends and enjoyed an active social life. Fiercely independent, Jean drove her car until recently and lived alone in her own home until her passing. Jean was the last surviving member of her generation in our family. She was the last of that great generation that survived the Great Depression, fought World War II and then built the Canada that we know and love today. Special thanks to the staff of Sunnybrook Hospital for their kindness and to Jean&rsquo;s friends Theresa Wright, Brenda Sadler and Marlo Andrews for their love and devotion.</div>
