It is with heavy hearts that we share that our treasured mom, Jean Helen Dye, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love and family, on February 3, 2026, at the age of 93.
Jean was the beloved wife of the late Robert (Bob) Dye and the cherished mother of Sandra Campbell and Nancy Dye. She was an adored grandmother to Dianne(Kent), Patty(Taylor), Caitlin(Carlo), and Spencer, and a special “Gigi” to Ryder, Britty, Emery, Layla, Brodie and Aaliyah. Jean was loved by her nieces and nephews. Jean was a Mother to many, “The Queen” to some and a friend to even more.
She was predeceased by her parents, Jean and John Steele: her brother, John Steele: her sons-in-law Donald Campbell and Doug MacFayden.
Jean began her working career at SunLife Financial where she met her future husband Bob. After staying at home to raise the children, Jean returned to work at Canada Wire and Cable then ExToggery and onto Livingston Distribution.
Jean was a dedicated volunteer at the Thornhill Seniors Centre, Richmond Hill Community Food Bank, and Meals on Wheels. She was an accomplished curler, gracious hostess, excellent cook, talented bridge player, and devoted knitter. Her curling career spanned over 60 years, culminating at Thornhill Country Club. In 1967 Jean won the Southern Ontario Women’s Curling Association Tankard.
Throughout her entire life, Jean had a remarkable ability to make people feel truly special and appreciated – whether through a thoughtful card, a telephone call, freshly baked cookies, beautiful flowers, or simply her warm and caring nature.
Strong, independent and a true fighter, she remained resilient until the very end. We called her the “Energizer Bunny” because she always kept on going.
Our family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Iskander, Allan, Clemence, Fredlyn, Clarita, Beverly and Jean’s PSW team, as well as Jennifer from Ontario Health at Home and Jean’s palliative care team for their compassion and support.
In Jean’s memory donations may be made to the Richmond Hill Community Food Bank, or a charity of your choice.
A celebration of Jean’s life will be held at Pine Hills Funeral Centre on Sunday, April 26 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Memories will be shared at 2:15 p.m.
