James Hall Colson
July 21, 1919 - July 8, 2014
It is with profound love and sadness that we announce the passing of James Hall Colson, peacefully at North York General Hospital on July 8th, 2014 at the age of 94. Devoted husband of Lucille, loving Dad of De and Jamie (Jim, J). Forever in the hearts of his precious grandchildren David, Shawna, Christopher and Michael (Yolanda). Jim was predeceased by his brother Osborne (Oz), and his twin sister Joan Neild and sister Margaret.
Dad was a proud veteran of WW II. He worked in the hardware retail industry, mainly with Jenkins Hardware for most of his career. He loved to golf, play card games, cheer on his Argos and Blue Jays and was an avid gardener, especially with puttering around their lovely garden at the old family house on Lurgan Drive in Willowdale. He also loved spending time north in Haliburton on Twelve Mile Lake and many enjoyable visits were made helping his son with various projects around his cottage and home projects with his daughter house too. He had very much enjoyed some lovely trips to Europe with family and friends over the years as well
Dad's greatest love was for family and friends. He cherished each and everyone and could not wait for the next visit. When you were loved by this man, you felt something very special.
Special thanks to Dr. Jackson, Dr. Shetty, the nurses at NYGH and caregivers at Mosaic for their tender and compassionate care of Dad.
Visitation will be held at York Visitation Centre (160 Beecroft Road, Toronto, Ontario M2N 5Z5) on Monday, July 21 from 5-9 p.m. and the memorial service and reception will be held on Tuesday, July 22 at 2 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to North York General Hospital Foundation.
