Dr. James Gerard McGarragle passed away on December 6th, 2023, surrounded by his family. Son of the late Corneilus and Margaret McGarragle and brother to the late Dr. Terence McGarragle and late Dr. Maurice McGarragle. Beloved husband to Denise and devoted father to James (Mariam), Kaitlin (Milad), and Kevin. Proud grandfather to Mina and Nora.

Gerard served the Scarborough community for 33 years as a family physician and was known for his tireless dedication to his patients. Outside of his work, he had an affinity for philosophy, learning, and martial arts. He was also an avid hockey fan and he enjoyed the years he spent coaching hockey, baseball, and football. Gerard was a talented musician, and at family gatherings he could be found playing the guitar and singing the hits of Bob Dylan, the Beatles, and Neil Young.

Gerard will be remembered for being a man of great intellect, compassion, and integrity. Above all, he loved and was loved by his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be at the Pine Hills Funeral Centre on Sunday December 10th from 4-8pm. Funeral Mass will be on Monday December 11th at 10am at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Interment at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
