James Arthur Carroll
November 2, 1928 - August 22, 2014
On Friday August 22, Jim Carroll passed away at the Sunnybrook Palliative Care Unit in Toronto.
Jim grew up in St. Catherine’s ON and was a proud graduate of the University of Western Ontario where he played on the Mustang football team, graduating in 1952. He went on to pursue a career in education. Jim was instrumental in establishing the Outdoor Education School in Kearney, Ont. He retired from the Scarborough Board of Education as the Coordinator of Geography and Social Studies in 1986.
Beloved husband of Mary Carroll, son of predeceased parents, Richard and Isabella Carroll of St. Catherines. Predeceased by his first wife Suzanne Logan, sister Marion (Carroll) Wyant, sister-in-law Gloria (Harold Ellenton) of Kitchener. Dear brother of Richard (Norma) Carroll and Philip (Jacqueline) Carroll of St. Catherines. Survived by children Craig (Cindy) Carroll and daughter Paula (Matthew) Schwindt, and Diana (Doug) Adams. Fondly remembered by grandchildren Lisa and Jessica Carroll, Amy, Isobel and Ingrid Adams. Loved step-father of Judy (Keir) Buchan, James (Anna) Hicks, Bill (Jennifer) Hicks, Lianne Hicks and fiancé Mike Fuhrmann. Loved step-grandfather of Tayler, Claire, and Maeve Buchan, Liam, Connor and Rylan Hicks and Vika Griza. Jim was the loving husband of Mary Carroll with whom he spent decades enjoying the sun in Muskoka and Sarasota, Florida.
