With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Jack Dyck, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend on January 19, 2026 at the age of 81 years old.
Born in Belleville, Ontario, raised in Oshawa and surrounding areas, Jack met the love of his life and best friend, Lynda (née Hurren) as teenagers. Together they shared over 62 years of adventure, laughter, and unwavering partnership. In addition to excelling as a Journeyman by trade, Jack was a warm, loving, supportive father to sons Steven (and Liliane) and Terrence (and Donald), and wonderful grandfather (Poppy) to Zaccary, Lucca and Calyssa.
Jack was a man of quiet strength and enduring love. He was a teacher of life’s most important lessons—the value of hard work, the importance of integrity, respect for nature and the joy of a well-timed joke.
Jack was predeceased by parents, Irene and John, step-mother Jean, and parents-in-law Elva and Fred Hurren. He was the dear brother of Ken (deceased, and Pat), Lois (and Ken Bellas), Bonnie (and Rick Stephenson), and Susan (and Connie Brooks). Brother-in-law of Dr. Larry and Kay Hurren, Sandra and Dave Gunn, Ron and Rose Hurren, Ted and Carmen Hurren and Shelley DeMan. He will be fondly missed by his many amazing nieces and nephews, and his many friends.
Jack’s kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
A Celebration of Jack's Life will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 beginning at THORNTON FUNERAL CENTRE (1200 Thornton Road North, Oshawa, 905-579-6787). With visitation at 1pm until time of service at 2pm.
In honour of Jack, the family asks that you perform an act of kindness in his memory, as he so often did for others.
In lieu of flowers, feel free to make a donation to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
