It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ivan “John” Hrgovich, at the blessed age of 92 on December 4, 2025. Surrounded by family, he departed peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and unwavering devotion.

Born on March 31, 1933 in the heart of Zagreb, Croatia, Ivan lived a life rich with love, hard work, and purpose. He migrated to Canada in 1958, where he overcame many obstacles, yet still persevered and built the beautiful life that his entire family has the privilege of enjoying today through his immense generosity. Ivan spent his life embracing what he loved most—traveling, boating, and sharing meaningful moments with family and friends. Whether in his homeland of Croatia or at his treasured home in Florida, he was happiest on the beach or on his boat, surrounded by the people who meant the world to him.

He was the beloved son of Ljubica and Nikola, and younger brother to his dear Drago. From an early age, he carried forward the values that shaped the remarkable man he became. Ivan married the love of his life, Mirjana, in 1969, beginning a partnership that spanned 56 beautiful years. Together, they raised a family built on love, laughter, and faith. He was a proud father to his daughter, Vivian, father-in-law to Steve, and daughter, Sonia. Cherished grandfather to Holly (Nicholas) and Blake (Katarina). His family was his greatest joy, and he devoted his life to their happiness and well-being.

Ivan was an honest, highly respected gentleman—loved by all. His presence brought warmth to every room, and his humour captivated every heart. May his memory be a blessing to all who love him and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
