Isabel Christine LeGrand (nee Lyness) passed away peacefully during her sleep in the family home with her daughter, Janice and son, Paul close by her side.
Isabel was born on January 2,1930 to parents Jemima and Alexander Lyness in Toronto. She was the middle of 3 sisters.
Isabel passed away on January 3, 2026, the day after her ninety- sixth birthday. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband George, loving son Robert and her two cherished sisters June and Mina. She is survived by her children, Janice and Paul, daughter-in-law Wendy, grandchildren Keri and Marc, and great-grandchildren Madison and Sydney.
Isabel had many roles throughout her extraordinary life. She was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law, daughter, sister, sister-in- law, grandmother, great grandmother, cousin, aunt and friend. Spending time with family meant the world to Isabel. She especially loved all the special times spent at Port Elgin, and at the cottage, swimming in the lake with the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visiting Paul in California was always a highlight. Although she never learned to drive, Isabel loved to go for drives in the car to Port Perry and Frenchman's Bay, where she would sit and watch the sunset with her family.
Isabel will be remembered most for her unconditional love, kindness, caring, thoughtfulness, loyalty and unlimited generosity. There wasn't a charity that she hadn't donated to.
Isabel's lovely smile, endearing sense of humour and contagious laughter will be missed by all who knew her. Her favourite saying, 'Pink to make the boys wink', will be forever in our memories.
Family and friends are invited to join us to celebrate Isabel's remarkable life on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at the Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre Reception Room between 12:00 and 2:00 pm.
Tributes and remembrances will be held at 1:00pm.
