Iris Anne DUGUID

(nee DOWN)

Co-founder of C. J. Duguid Floor Coverings

April 26, 1920 - January 16, 2015

Iris peacefully passed away surrounded by family at the age of 94. Predeceased by her husband, Charles John Duguid. Loving mother of: John (Lynne Galbraith), Mary (Garry Herridge) and James (Audrey). Cherished Nana of six grandchildren: Jodie Anne, John (Candace), Carrie-Annie (Mitchell), Jamie (Leah), Sarah (Mark), Caitlin and her four great-grandchildren: Taylor, Shannon, Amber and Cody. Iris spent many years in the flooring industry along with her husband Charles and together they established C. J. Duguid Floor Coverings. When times were lean she went to work at Simpsons in "The Room" to raise capital to invest in their business. Iris enjoyed many activities. Golf was her passion, winning many club tournaments. She also enjoyed curling and making beautiful works of ceramic art together with Charlie. Iris was an avid gardener who won many awards for her beautiful garden. Iris's final years were spent at Rouge Valley Extendicare and the family wish to thank the nurses and PSWs (Barbara for her long chats, June for her compassion, Gwendolyn who called her "Hey sexy Momma", Alfredo her "Joe" who called her "Princess of Wales" and Ginnite) for their care and also the activation staff Jane, Michaela and Helen who accompanied Iris on trips: fishing, to the farm, aquarium and daily activities. Happiness is...calling BINGO! A special thank you to Rosie, for her caring nature in assisting Iris. Iris was a wonderful lady who touched the lives of all who knew her. Iris's smiling face, her great sense of humour and genuine thoughtful interest towards others will be truly missed.
