In Loving Memory of Ian Wendell Solomon
February 26, 1960 – June 3, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ian Solomon, who passed away on June 3, 2026, at the age of 66 of health reasons.
Born on February 26, 1960, Ian was a proud member of the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation, Neyaashiinigmiing. He spent much of his life living and working in Toronto, Ontario, where he earned his living as a high-rise window cleaning technician. His work reflected his strong work ethic, fearlessness, cool headedness and focus.
Ian was the beloved son of the late Prisella Myrtle Solomon (Chegahno) and the late Milton Ashkewe.
He was predeceased by his siblings Gwenolyn, Clifford, Mildred, Alvera, Glenna, and Edie. He leaves behind his brothers Morrison (wife Marsha) and Joey (wife Patricia), as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will remember him fondly.
He is also survived by his daughters, Natasha and Nancy.
A special acknowledgment is extended to Margaret "Muggsy" Wright, who was a cherished friend and maternal figure throughout his life. Her love, guidance, and friendship were a constant source of comfort and support.
Those who knew Ian will remember his infectious smile, his quick wit, and his ability to make people laugh. He loved joking around and had a way of
brightening a room with his presence. Beneath his playful nature was a man with a generous heart who cared deeply for others.
Ian treasured his family, his friendships, and his Ojibwe roots. He carried the spirit of kindness, humor, and resilience throughout his life.
Though he has left this world, the memories he created and the laughter he shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
