We are saddened by the passing of Hugh Collins Clarke of Scarborough Ontario on July 9th 2012. Hugh was a proud Newfoundlander, born Nov. 16th, 1917 in Middle Lance Cove Random Island Trinity Bay NFLD son of William and Mary (Bowring) brother of Louise (Hillier), Joseph, Ellie, Guy, Pearl, Eliol and Charlotte. Hugh was predeceased by Kathaleen (Bennett) and Thelma (McGuiness). He is survived by his son William and his wife Anne (Downey), two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His daughter Marilyn Blue and Wayne Dimock, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren
More recently Hugh was to encounter Margarete Dietrich who became his constant companion, partner and the great love if his life. We were pleased to welcome Margarete to the Clark family and the joy she brought to our father' life. During his life Hugh was a long term employee of Canadian Pacific Railway Toronto Yards St Clair and Agincourt. His personal interests included baseball, hockey and curling. Hugh was an active card player, both games of chance and recreational cards where he was a friendly competitor. Late in life along with his beloved Margarete he became a world traveler and it may require a bit of imagination to envision his traveling across Europe and falling in love with Austria. You are invited to a celebration of Hugh's life with his family and friends Saturday July 14, 2012 at Pine Hills Cemetery, Visitation Centre on Birchmount Rd, Scarborough - Visitation 1:30 pm Memorial Service 2:30 pm with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Ontario.
