God called Hugh Bancroft McDonald home on December 21, 2025, at the age of 80.

Hugh leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, strength, and devotion. A loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather, he was a provider and protector, a steady presence, and a shoulder always ready to lean on. He lived with humility, wisdom, and quiet reflection, touching many lives in ways both seen and unseen.

In times of uncertainty and sorrow, his family finds comfort in knowing that the foundation he built—through his values, teachings, and unconditional love—will endure and guide generations to come.

Hugh will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Nina; his devoted children, Natalie, Stokely, and David; and his treasured grandchild, Malcolm. He will be lovingly remembered by extended family / many dear friends and has found eternal peace in heaven, reunited with his loving parents, Eulalee and Ivan.

Visitation will take place at the Elgin Mills Funeral Centre (1591 Elgin Mills Rd. East, Richmond Hill) on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 1:00–2:00 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at 3:00 p.m. at Elgin Mills Cemetery.
