Hin Jing Mark passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025. He will be profoundly missed by his daughter May (Simon), his sons Robert (Lorna) and Jerry, and his beloved grandchildren Candice (Daniel), Tiffanie (Bryan), Julia, and Ryan.

Hin Jing was predeceased by his devoted wife, Zau Ming, whom he now reunites with after many years apart.

Born in Canton, China, Hin Jing emigrated to Canada in 1953 with his two brothers, beginning a new chapter defined by resilience, hard work, and devotion to family. He began his working life alongside his father in a Chinese restaurant, laying the foundation for a lifetime of dedication and entrepreneurship.

Through hard work and perseverance, he built a life filled with love, laughter, and service. In his early years, he and his brothers worked in Tillsonburg, an experience that reflected both their close bond and shared determination. Over time, Hin Jing transitioned from worker to owner, becoming a partner in a Chinatown restaurant, an owner of a traditional Chinese diner, and a co-owner of the Great China Restaurant in downtown Toronto. Not one for idleness, Hin Jing also co-owned a dry-cleaning business and went on to own a small fish and chips restaurant in Toronto’s west end.

In retirement, Hin Jing embraced the simple pleasures of life. He loved watching sports and movies and was an enthusiastic fan of basketball, soccer, and hockey, the sport of his adopted home. Never forgetting his roots, he enjoyed playing mah jong and was an avid reader. One of his fondest memories was sharing a Caribbean cruise with his family in 2007.
