With broken hearts we share the devastating news of the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, and friend, Heather Street, who died on May 15, 2025, at the age of 48.
Heather grew up in Toronto's Moore Park neighbourhood, in a close and loving family that included her parents, Margo and Richard, and her younger sister, Carly. The bonds she built with them were deep and enduring - she gave her love generously and received it in full.
From a young age, Heather shone brightly. She was a spirited presence, full of energy, curiosity, and a "can-do" attitude that never wavered. At North Toronto Collegiate, where she was President of the Girls' Athletic Association, she helped found the school's first women's hockey team - which went on to win the City Championship.
Heather earned an Honours BA in Economics from Queen's University in Kingston, followed by a Master's degree from Wilfrid Laurier University. She brought her sharp intellect and analytical gifts to the business world, where she held senior management roles at leading Canadian banks including CIBC, TD, and most recently, BMO. She also honed her strategic skills at top consulting firms earlier in her career.
Heather was admired not just for her professional excellence, but for her warmth, humour, and genuine interest in others. Her infectious laugh invited everyone into its orbit. She had that rare ability to connect, to make people feel seen and valued. Her friendships were many and deep, and she remained a loyal and loving friend throughout her life.
Heather was pragmatic and grounded, yet always expansive in her thinking. She brought perspective and humour to every situation - and people counted on her for her spunk, her clarity, and her ability to get things done.
A devoted and attentive daughter, sister, and friend, Heather shared a special bond with her sister, Carly.
They lived together for several years, travelled widely, and filled their days with joy and laughter. A lifelong cat lover, Heather even welcomed Carly's dog into their home - another gesture of her characteristic generosity and love.
Heather led with her heart in all she did. She leaves behind a profound legacy of kindness, intelligence, and unwavering support. Her memory is a blessing, and the joy she brought into our lives is a gift we will carry always.
Heather is survived by her parents, Margo and Richard Street; her sister, Carly Street; her uncle, Duncan MacVannel, and her cousins, Courtney and Graham MacVannel of Montreal.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Oncology Team at Sunnybrook Hospital, and the compassionate Palliative Care Unit at Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital, for their unparallel support. In lieu of flowers, donations, in Heather's memory, may be made to either of the institutions above.
