Known lovingly as "Habs" to her friends and family, Hababo Debela Olana was born on February 22, 1991, in Addis Ababa (Finfine), Ethiopia. The cherished third child of Dabala Olana and Fantaye Sarka, Hababo was the younger sister to Moa and Lenssa. Throughout her life, she was surrounded by the love and guidance of many including her godmother, Martha Sarka.
During her formative years, she was cared for with warmth and devotion by Worqe, Telile, and Shibere. In 1994, Hababo and her family moved to Canada, first settling in Calgary before making Toronto their home, where she attended high school and graduated in 2009. Her drive and determination led her to pursue higher education at the University of Toronto, where she earned a degree in Psychology in 2013. This marked the beginning of a successful career in banking, where her dedication and hard work left a lasting impression on her colleagues.
Hababo was known for her bright smile, infectious laughter, and curious nature. Her playful spirit and kind heart brought warmth to her family. Whether teasing her siblings with her mischievous antics or offering a shoulder to lean on, Hababo’s presence in the family was a source of joy and comfort. She often took on the role of preparing food for family gatherings, adding her own special touch to every meal, especially her beloved bread, which became a family favorite.
After moving to Toronto, Hababo grew up attending St. Mark’s Church. Later in life, she attended St. Andrews, a place where she found peace and comfort.
Hababo was a devoted aunt to Amias and Azai, playing an active and loving role in their lives. She delighted in spending time with them, being a constant source of encouragement and laughter. Hababo was also attentive to the needs of children outside her family, making a difference in the life of Semanyesh, a young girl in Ethiopia, by financially supporting her education.
Her legacy is one of love, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to the people she cherished most. Hababo’s presence enriched the lives of all who knew her.
