BLACKMAN, Gordon
Peacefully at Scarborough General Hospital surrounded by family on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the age of 87. Predeceased by his loving wife Kathleen (2009). Father of Eric (Cindy), Sandra (Mike) and Heidi (Paul), Grandfather “Bompa” of Carly, Tyler, Scott, Cody, Nicholas, Daniel and Abigail. Former City of Toronto employee (retired) and proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 10. Life-long love of chess - Member of the Scarborough Chess Club. Strong devotion to sports including hockey and baseball. His endless stories will live on through everyone who knew him. Special thanks to Jennifer Favorite, his devoted caregiver, the staff at Bendale Acres and the nursing staff at Scarborough General Hospital. Visitation will be held at PINE HILLS VISITATION CENTRE, 625 Birchmount Road (at St. Clair Ave. E.), Toronto, 416-267-8229 on Tuesday, September 23rd from 3-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday, September 24th at 1 p.m. Interment and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gordon's name to his favourite charity, Salvation Army.
