Gloria Fanseta Findley was born on the 8th day of February, 1932, to parents Emily Bennett and Salmon Samms. She entered this world with pride and humility—qualities she carried with her throughout her life.

After a full and meaningful life, Gloria peacefully answered God’s call and was called home to eternal rest on January 4, 2026, at Scarborough General Hospital. At 93 years old, she departed this life wrapped in grace and dignity, until we meet again.

Affectionately known as “Miss Gee” to close family and friends, Gloria was a quiet, simple, yet feisty woman whose warmth could be felt by all who knew her. She had a special way of bringing people together, often through her signature stew peas or peas soup. Neighbours were always encouraged to “go get a container” and take part in the merriment.

Gloria was undeniably a strong woman who did whatever she could to provide for herself and her family. She was often seen making her way to the Combined Tobacco Company, where she worked for many years. Later in life, she migrated to Canada to be with her tenacious daughter Marva Wint and her benevolent youngest child, Marjorie Thomas.

Gloria was welcomed into eternal rest and lovingly reunited with her husband Winston; her parents, her sister, Miriam; her children, Cliff and Carmen; and her grandchildren, Shawn and Karen.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory four children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

In honoring Gloria’s life, we gather at The Simple Alternative Funeral Home to pay homage to the matriarch of our family. Following the service, her body will be laid to rest at Dufferin Meadows Cemetery in Pickering, Ontario.

Although Gloria is gone, she will live on in our hearts forever.
