On Saturday October 18th we said goodbye to our dear Gloria Bruna Cousins (born Marinig), as she peacefully passed in her 89th year after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.
Gloria was raised in Kirkland Lake by her parents Gulio and Zelia Marinig with her younger sister Diana. From a young age Gloria worked 2-3 jobs at a time from bookkeeping with Tech Mining in Kirkland Lake and then with Bennett Paving where she retired from after 33 years.
By Far Gloria’s biggest accomplishment was her family. Gloria leaves behind her number one and only son John Jeminiany and his wife Karen. Her 3 loved grandchildren Fallon Jeminiany (Ryan Sheridan), Cody Jeminiany, Darian Jeminiany and her great-grandson Austin Sheridan. Gloria also leaves behind her niece and nephews from her dear sister and best friend Diana Martinelli.
Gloria always kept a beautiful garden and had the ability to throw anything in pot into a delicious dish. Her table was always ready for a guest with her generosity extending beyond the dinner table with 19+ years of charitable donations to World Vision.
She maintained her hobbies well into her senior years spending time on her boat, golfing in women’s leagues, playing cards and having countless cups of coffee with some of her lifelong girlfriends Edie, Bea and Anna.
Gloria will be sadly missed by friends and family but we are comforted knowing she will have loved ones welcoming her on the other side.
A celebration of life will be held to honor Gloria Cousins on Sunday November 2, 2025 from 2:00-4:00pm at Thornton Funeral Centre 1200 Thornton Rd North, Oshawa, ON, L1J 0C9
