The family of Walter Barkey invite friends to join us for a time of remembering.
Walter passed away peacefully on Dec.14, 2013 at Centenary Hospital (Rouge Valley) after a short illness. Walter was predeceased by his wife Laima (Kvedares) Barkey (2005), his parents Bessie (Mowder) and Charles Barkey, his siblings Cliff (Mary) Barkey, Barbara (Art) Adams, Wilmot and Frank Barkey. Caring uncle and great uncle to many and a fun neighbour to a great group of friends in the Friendship Avenue area. Walter was retired from IBM, but more recently was known as the lawn mower guy and was quite proficient at fixing any lawnmower or snow blower. The Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at noon with the visitation beginning at 11:00 am at the Simple Alternative Funeral Centre, 1057 Brock Road, Pickering (south of 401) 905-686-5589. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Salvation Army or the Canadian Red Cross would be appreciated.
