Beloved husband of Valerie, he will be sadly missed by his seven children, Robert Burke, (Deanna), Janet Burke, Diana Burke (Robert Henderson), Peter South (Pip-Patricia), Patricia South (Scott Brooker), Marguerite South (Philip Pixley), Gerald South Jr. (Lisa), Sisters-in-law Pat Charley and Bonnie Silvera and his many grandchildren Paul, Robbie Sacha and Scarlett Burke, Mark and Cindy MacKenzie, Daniel and Dax Webb, Indigo and Taunya Brooker and Kaya and Jada South, Simon and Tricia Shaw, Michael and Diana Henderson and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He will also be dearly missed by close cousins, Nellie Gigg and Jeanette Nation( UK) and Barbara Newland(US)and best friend Stanley Chung. Gerald went to work at Kingston Industrial Garage straight out of high school and spent his entire working career there specializing in Ford products. He spent a lot of time in the UK &nbsp;doing various mechanic courses and eventually became service manager at KIG. He retired in the same year he emigrated to Canada in 1980. Always embracing new adventures he suddenly displayed culinary talent and became the main cook in the family. His signature Ox-tail dish was enjoyed by many! &nbsp;He adored his wife Valerie and when she was stricken with Alzheimers Disease he cared for her tenderly and patiently . He joined his daughter Diana and son in law Robert Henderson at Glen Road and became a popular fixture in his signature smoking jacket, glass of scotch or red wine in hand. He was always willing to share his secret stash of vintage scotch and wines. A true gentleman who touched the hearts of all who met him, he lived his life with quiet dignity and humour. &nbsp; Memorial Service to be held on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at&nbsp;Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Visitation Centre,&nbsp;375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto, Ontario&nbsp;at 2:00 pm. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers a donation to the The St. Michaels Hospital foundation would be appreciated. </p> <p> &nbsp; </p> </div>
