<div itemprop="description">Departed from this earth on Oct. 12, 2015 in his 80th year. Predeceased by his brother, Glenn, parents Roy and Alma, and his wife Donna Marie. Left to mourn are his siblings Elaine (Earl) Allen, Neil (Leslie) Aberle, Judy (Heinz) Zuechner, his children Treva, Shawn (Heather), Jeff, Tace (Doug) Slater as well as his grandchildren, Julia, Nicholas, Jakob, Kaleb and Clara. A dedicated educator in the Toronto District School Board, Gerald taught, coached and administrated at many grade schools in the city. He will be remembered for his generosity of spirit, kindness, sense of humour, thirst for adventure and appreciation of the arts. Whether at his home in Toronto or at his cottage in Muskoka, he always had an open door for friends and family to pass through any day. Every visitor was greeted with the sincerest of happiness and generosity. Lending a sympathetic ear and a shoulder to lean on, with a drink or a coffee, followed by a kind word, he would send you on your way happier for having stopped by. Some of his favourite moments were spent on his island in the company of friends, both two-legged and four. His kind, smiling face and wise words will not be soon forgotten. Friends may call at PINE HILLS CEMETERY &amp; VISITATION CENTRE, 625 Birchmount Rd., Scarborough (north of St. Clair Ave. E., 416-267-8229) for visitation on Thursday October 15, from 4p.m.- 8p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Friday October 16th, 2015 at 11:00am with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.</div>
