It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Jung, who passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, at the age of 72, in Brampton, ON, Canada.
Born on October 27, 1953, in Sudbury, ON, he was the son of the late Wah Deep Jung and Lee Lai Kin. He grew up in Schreiber, ON, before moving to Hong Kong for a year, then to Fort William, ON (now Thunder Bay), and finally down to Toronto, ON, and attended Ryerson Senior Public School, Harbord Collegiate Institute and University of Toronto.
George was a respected Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), visionary entrepreneur, and innovator whose distinguished career spanned over 40 years in technology. He was a founding partner and Chief Technology Officer at VenueVision, NewGen Media, and Sphere Technologies Inc. George operated a successful consulting practice and had a significant tenure at Nortel Networks as a leader in the telecommunications sector. He will be remembered professionally for his commitment to excellence, his problem-solving abilities and his talent for leading diverse teams to success.
Beyond his professional achievements, George was a man of many passions. He was an avid enthusiast of space exploration and astrology, and had a lifelong love for technology and innovation. He will be fondly remembered for his boundless generosity - always seeking ways to help others - and for his sharp wit and infectious sense of humor that never failed to bring a smile to those around him. An avid sports fan, he followed his favourite teams, including the Toronto Maple Leafs, Calgary Flames, Toronto Raptors and the Toronto Blue Jays, often watching them with his sons.
He was a devoted father and family man. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Doris Jew, and his children, Jeff and Kevin Jung. He was the proud grandfather to Kai and Kayleigh Stephens-Jung, who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his sibling, Harry Jung.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 10th, 2026 between 2PM - 5PM ET at Meadowvale Cemetery, Cremation & Funeral Centres - 7732 Mavis Road, Brampton, ON, Canada, L6Y 5L5.
