George Perdikis, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, at Scarborough General Hospital. He was 88 years old.
George was born on April 20, 1937, in the small village of Asopos, Laconia, Greece, to Maria and Anastasios Perdikis. In 1953, at just 16 years of age, he immigrated to Canada in search of opportunity and a better future. Through his hard work, determination, and an unwavering commitment to family, George built a life he was deeply proud of.
His first job in Canada was as a room service waiter at the Gateway Hotel on Lakeshore. With discipline and perseverance, he saved his earnings and, together with his two brothers-in-law, went on to purchase Hushy’s Restaurant, located across from Massey Hall, in the heart of Toronto. George spent his working life as a dedicated and well-respected restauranteur, known for his strong work ethic and warm presence. He retired at the age of 54, though he never truly left the hospitality world, continuing to work part-time as a bartender or host in friends’ restaurants.
George was devoted to his family. He was predeceased by his beautiful little daughter Spiridoula, who passed away at the age of 4 and by his beloved wife Christine Perdikis, who passed away at the age of 71. George and Christine Perdikis shared a loving marriage and raised four children, Tom, Mary, Anna and Spiridoula. He is survived by his children Tom Perdikis (Mary) children George and Catherine, Mary Tsiampas (George) children Kristina (Chris) and Frankie, and Anna Dinis (Paul) children Christian and Justin. George was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren whom brought him immense joy.
George was an avid sports fan who greatly enjoyed watching hockey and soccer. He was a simple, quiet, fun loving soul who found pleasure in socializing, drinking coffee with his friends and spending quality time with his family.
George will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, strong values, and love of family. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, resilience, and devotion that will live on through those who loved him.
May his Memory be Eternal.
In lieu of flowers the Perdikis family would kindly request a donation to the Hellenic Home in memory of the late George Perdikis.
