Γεώργιος Παυλόπουλος (Georgios Pavlopoulos) passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026 in his birthplace of Athens, Greece at the age of 64 after a hard fought battle with heart disease. Beloved husband to Helen, loving father to Billy (Elena) and Rea, son-in-law to George Vastis (Helen), dearest brother to Yiota (Vasilis), brother-in-law to Effie (Pascal), Vasilia and Peter (Fotina), sybetheroi in-laws to George and Sophie Galatsis. George will also be sadly missed by his godson, nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and friends. George is preceded in death by his father Vasileios, mother Christina, mother-in-law Sotirea, brother-in-law Jim and is now reunited with them in heaven.

George could often be found immersed in any one of his hobbies and pastimes. He loved soccer, all things cars, cooking/baking, music and dancing, barbecuing, motorcycles and travel. Those who had the privilege of having a conversation with George were often captivated by his many stories and signature “hee hee” laugh, soft spoken demeanour and never-ending jokes.

George endured a long and courageous battle with heart disease beginning with his first heart episode at 44. He suffered many heart episodes which lead to a stroke at 53 relying on a defibrillator and pacemaker for the rest of his life. The last 3 months of his battle consisted of continued heart failure and complications ultimately leading to multi-organ failure. His family and medical staff are immensely proud of George's fight and strength during this time and he will remain our hero forever.

A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at 10 a.m. at the Greek Orthodox Church of Prophet Elias, 1785 Matheson Blvd, Mississauga. Interment to follow at Meadowvale Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Centres, Brampton. Celebration of life luncheon to conclude at Millennium Gardens Banquet Centre, 20 Polonia Ave, Brampton.

As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to the cardiac unit at Trillium Health Partners where George received the majority of his care and treatment.
