George Artin Bannayan
November 3, 1935 - January 31, 2015
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that George has lost his valiant battle with pancreatic cancer on January 31st at home surrounded by his loved ones.
George was born in the Armenian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem, was educated in Armenian, French and English. George was a banker at heart having worked with Intra Bank in Jordan and joined the Bank of Montreal when he emigrated to Canada in 1968. George was an avid tennis & racquetball player and enjoyed sports & fitness in general.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the Pancreatic Cancer Centre at Princess Margaret Hospital (Dr. Neesha Dhani), all the wonderful doctors, nurses and personal support workers at Toronto General & St. Michael’s Hospitals, CCAC, Spectrum and CAREpath
George leaves behind to mourn him his wife of 46 years Nellie, his sons Artin (Billy) and Berj (Laura) of whom he was very proud and who cared for him until the end, sister Hopy and brother Hagop (Norma) as well as many brothers and sisters in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Predeceased by his sister Margot, mother Angele and father Artin.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation for the Palliative Care Program Fund will be greatly appreciated.
