ELLIS, Gary Everett
October 22, 1953 – December 9, 2025
Gary Everett Ellis passed away peacefully at home on December 9, 2025, in Mississauga, Ontario, at the age of 72. He was the beloved son of the late Everett “Ed” Ellis and Reta Kathleen Ellis (née Thornton).
Gary was a deeply beloved father, uncle, cousin, brother, and friend. His passing was sudden and unexpected. While his family has lost a cherished father, many others have lost a dear friend and loved one. Gary was a steady presence and a rock to many.
A devoted and loving father, Gary worked hard to ensure his children were always cared for and felt loved every day. He is survived by his children, Basil Ellis, Rosemary (Jeremy) Lavigne, and Gary Ellis Jr., as well as his cherished grandchildren.
Gary is survived by his siblings Kenneth Thornton, Grace Metcalfe, Nancy (Jim) Burke, Shirley (Rod) Stewart, and Carl Ellis. He was predeceased by his parents. He will forever remain in their hearts and be deeply missed every day.
Gary devoted much of his working life to his career as a glass worker before retiring. In his later years, as his health became more challenging, he remained strong in spirit. A cancer survivor, he was a testament to strength and determination. He found great joy in restoring old cars and bikes, spending time with his family, and caring for his beloved parrot, Blue, who was a constant companion.
Family and friends will be received at the Meadowvale Funeral Centre, 7732 Mavis Road, Brampton, Ontario, on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. A service will follow from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service.
