It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, Fernando Lopez, age 76. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, he passed away in Toronto on December 24, 2025.

Fernando was predeceased by his wife, Violeta Ruth Lopez, and will be deeply missed by his children, Pablo and Samanta Lopez. He was a devoted grandfather to Veronica, Andre, Elizabeth, and Thomas, and a cherished great-grandfather to Mateo.

Born and raised in Chile, Fernando grew up in a large and close-knit family and will be fondly remembered by his brother, three sisters, and their families.

Fernando was the owner of Design 2100 and enjoyed a long and accomplished career in Architecture, Urban Design and Carpentry. In retirement, he embraced life fully—dancing Argentine tango, playing flamenco guitar, cycling, and spending time with his beloved cat, Matilde. He will be remembered by his friends, neighbours, and colleagues for his warmth, creativity, design and passion.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto. Visitation will take place from 10:00–11:00 a.m., followed by a brief service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held at Toronto Necropolis, 200 Winchester Street, Toronto, at 12:30 p.m. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at The Beach Ballroom, 1501 Queen St. E., Toronto from 1:30–4:30 p.m. (Please bring indoor shoes).

If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Toronto Humane Society, Prostate Cancer Society, Dance with Parkinsons, or the Canadian Cancer Society.
