Evelyn Ruth BROWN - Born July 6, 1921 in Kingston, Ontario to the late Gordon Holland and Ethel May Stratton, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2015 at Bloomington Cove Care Community, Stouffville, Ontario, in her 95th year. Ruth, beloved wife of the late Donald John Brown (1920-1964). Loving mother of Peter Brown (deceased), Wayne Brown (Kim), Michael Brown (Jane) and Joan Hunter (Warren). Cherished grandmother of Dwight Brown (Penny), Jenifer Neilson (Chris), Graham Brown (Tanya), John, Paul, Mathew Brown, Celine Hunter, Ulana Hunter. Step grandmother to Stephanie, Jordan and Jeremy Hunter. Loving great-grandmother to Taylor and Elisabeth Brown, Zakkary and Marcus Neilson, Ashly, Austin and Nicholas Brown, Courtney, Emmalee, Robert Brown, Mattison, Ian and Abigale Brown. Loving great-great-grandmother to Eliza Mai, Kaleb, Paityn, Brooklyn, Riley, Summer. Step great-great grandmother of Joshua, Trysan, Brendyn, Alexa, Quinn, Cameron Hunter and Alyssa Boucher. Dear sister of the late Catharine (George) Barber and Barbara Miles. Loving aunt to Daniel Barber. A mother of incredible and unconditional love, generosity of heart and someone who loved us with passion and forgiveness, she possessed a special style, elegance and grace that set her apart and inspired us all. Ruth was known for her generosity and hospitality, always finding the best in everyone and all that surrounded her. She always had a kind word. The last years of Ruth's life were a struggle as dementia slowly diminished her spirit. Despite this difficult challenge, she handled life as she always had – with strength and dignity. She will be remembered forever with admiration and love. A private family burial will take place at York Cemetery, North York, Ontario.
