In loving memory of our beloved father, Errol Parris, who passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, at the age of 88 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Errol, the youngest of six children, was born in St. Thomas, Barbados. Growing up, he was an avid adventurer. As a young boy, he would explore the surrounding areas of Welchman Hall and Harrison’s Cave with his brothers and cousins. Errol was meticulous, which made him a skilled marksman. He often won awards for his remarkable abilities.
Despite growing up in the landlocked parish of St. Thomas, Errol loved the ocean. He spent his days swimming, spearfishing, or scuba diving, and when he wasn’t exploring the ocean, he was riding his beloved motorcycle around Barbados.
After graduating from Harrison’s College, Errol embarked on a new adventure, leaving his family and friends behind to travel the world. He built a career as a Merchant Marine and shared many stories of his experiences, from the segregation he witnessed in the Southern US to the exotic sights of China. Eventually, he immigrated to Toronto, Canada, where he married Lascita and they had three children together.
Errol was a man of great faith. He was an active member of the Anglican Church and a proud parishioner of St. Hilda’s Anglican Church, serving as Lay Reader, Rector’s Warden, and Choir member throughout his life. His dedication and service earned him the Order of the Diocese of Toronto in 2016. He possessed a remarkable gift for singing and could fix almost anything, sharing his talents generously with friends, neighbours, and the community.
Errol was a devoted father, and he is survived by his children, Reta, Errol Jr., and Natasha. He is also the grandfather to Denel, Joshua, Genevieve, and Gillian, who will always cherish his kindness, love, and generosity.
Errol is predeceased by his wife, Lascita. Together, along with many extended family and friends, they will deeply miss him and carry his memory in their hearts.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Errol’s memory to Canadian Cancer Society or Humber River Health Foundation.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Humber River Hospital for their compassionate care during Errol’s illness. A funeral service will be held at Meadowvale Cemetery on Saturday, February 21st.
