Eileen Atkinson
July 5, 1942 - May 23, 2015
Eileen Audrey Atkinson – July 5, 1942 – May 23, 2015
It is with great sadness that the family of Eileen Audrey Atkinson (nee Anderson) announces her passing on Saturday, May 23rd, 2015. She will be deeply missed by her husband Al, daughters Tracy and Heather, grandchildren Ryan, Shane, Matt, Sarah, Scott, Mikyla, Lincoln and her many friends. Eileen was a remarkable person who had a kind, genuine and loving spirit. She was an incredible mother and grandmother who showered her family with unconditional love and affection. She was passionate about celebrating birthdays, holidays and other important occasions in the lives of her family and friends. Her patience, positive energy and generosity brought out the best in everyone she met. She lived an active and fun life with Al, her second husband, over the past 20 years and will be deeply missed by him as well as the many close friends she cherished, many of whom were from childhood, teaching, tennis, bridge or euchre. Eileen unfortunately had several health issues over the past few years that started to slow her down. After undergoing colon surgery in February she experienced complications and despite the ongoing encouragement of her family and many friends, she passed away peacefully at Southlake Hospital in Newmarket on Saturday, May 23, 2015. Family and friends are invited to honour Eileen at a Celebration of her Life on Wednesday, June 3 at Elgin Mills Visitation Centre in Richmond Hill at 11am. In lieu of flowers, Eileen’s family would welcome donations toward the Eileen Atkinson Memorial Scholarship at Centennial College where she worked for over 25 years. Donations can be made by contacting Rahim Dharamsi at rdharamsi@centennialcollege.ca or over the phone at 416-289-5000 ext 8849.
