Edward Mugford
It is with great sadness that we announce Ed’s unexpected passing at the age of 77 in the early morning of June 20th, 2014 after a courageous and well fought battle at Sunnybrook Hospital. He leaves behind his loving wife Priscilla of 53 years, son Ryan (Shannon), daughter Johanna (Sam), grandchildren Nigel & Sophia and his brother Ronnie as well many other family and friends who will all miss him dearly.
Ed started his teaching career at the age of 19, received his B Ed. from McMaster University and completed his Masters of Education at The University of Toronto. He retired a Vice Principal after 35 years with the Etobicoke Board of Education.
He loved to travel and took his family around the globe passing this passion for adventure and exploration on to his children.
He struggled with heart disease and diabetes for many years but his unique and quirky sense of humour never left him and was evident even on his last day. The family would like to thank the many doctors & nurses who cared for Ed during his stay at Sunnybrook.
A celebration of Ed’s life will be held on Thursday June 26th at Mount Pleasant Cemetery and Visitation Centre, 375 Mt. Pleasant Rd. from 5-7pm (service at 6pm). In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Schulich Heart Centre c/o The Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation.
