It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our loved one Edna May Massey, with family by her side, on November 26th 2014. Beloved mother of Phyllis (Stephen) Gregory, Arlene (Brian) Keehn, Christine (Dave) Regert, Patricia (Clair) Anderson, Michael (Anne) Massey. Loving Nanny to Christopher (Bess), Beth (Steve), Carissa (Dan), Samantha (Fred), Jim (Heather), Kevon (Helen), Jennifer (Erin), Jeremie (Tina), Robert (Bojanna) & Krystal (Dave). Treasured great-nan of MaryAnne, Katie, Grayson, Jordan, Jeffrey, Emilie, Megan, Curtis, Andrew, Molly, Julie, Max & Danica. She is survived by her sisters Anne (Ken) & Mary and her brother Ted (Ruby). Predeceased by sisters Doris, Joan & Olive & brothers Eric & Ron.

Edna was a quiet gentle woman whose pleasant demeanor and sparkling blue eyes endeared her to all she came in contact with. Her smile warmed our homes and our hearts. We remember many fond moments with our loving mother, doting grandmother, great-nana and supporting sister. The love she provided us, especially during our younger years, was given unconditionally and courageously.

The nurturing and assistance she so willingly gave to her sisters Doris and Olive and her long companion Drew, served as an example to others and will be thought of often.

In her early years, Edna worked in the Food and nutrition program at North Western (General) Hospital. Later she spent time with Halifax insurance where she was promoted to department manager. She often questioned her ability and lack of confidence but the way she lived her life dispelled all doubt.

Edna found strength through the love she gave so freely and we in turn grew stronger because of her gift.

As we share many memorable moments of Edna, we are comforted by the love of family and strengthened by the tenderness and compassion she has shown to all who touched her life. We wish her eternal peace.
