It is with deep sadness and love that we announce the passing of Edith Plinski, who passed away peacefully on Thursday August 20, 2026, at the age of 91.
Edith was born in Luebeck, Germany on March 25, 1935. She lived through the hardships and devastation of the Second World War, experiences that shaped much of her life and left her with many stories of courage, perseverance and difficult times.
In the 1950’s, Edith immigrated to Canada with her beloved husband, the late Gerhard Plinski. Together, they built a new life and made their home in Oshawa, Ontario.
Edith devoted many years to caring for others through her work as an Operating Room Nurse at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. She was also passionate about fitness and staying active, making exercise an important part of her life. Her commitment to health and an active lifestyle reflected her strength, energy, and determination.
Edith will be remembered for her resilience, caring nature, love of fitness, and the many stories she shared from a remarkable life.
She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
A gathering to celebrate Edith's life will be held at THORNTON CEMETERY (1200 Thornton Road North, Oshawa) on Wednesday September 2nd, 2026 at 3pm. Friends are asked to meet in Section 5 for burial of cremated remains.
