It is with sadness, the family announces the passing of Dun Sau Kwong, who went to be with the Lord on the evening of Saturday November 29, 2025, in her 93rd year. She is predeceased by her husband Yeurk Hong Kwong, and son Chiu Ming Kwong (Helen). She will be dearly missed by her children Vivian (Stephen) and Lloyd (Sophy); grandchildren Nellie (Alvin), Nelson (Betty), Luke, Maddy, and Angie; great-grandchildren Nathan, Sebastian and Lewis; and extended family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother; she was caring, kind, thoughtful and generous to her extended family and many friends.
Born in Toishan, China, she was married in 1951, and followed her husband to Canada in 1966 after he had emigrated earlier in 1954 to prepare the way. In Toronto, she lived and built her loving home, worked as a seamstress, and was an active member of Chinese Gospel Church.
She was always busy doing something! She babysat her grandchildren in their younger years. She was an excellent cook and baker of Chinese cuisine and treats, she enjoyed eating good food. She loved having everyone over for dinner! She was excellent at sewing; she could sew and mend anything. She enjoyed traveling, she went on a Holyland trip and loved cruising. She loved Chinese opera and music and hymns. She had an amazing green thumb and loved gardening, growing veggies (winter melon, zucchini, bittermelon, red amaranth, beans, kohlrabi, herbs, just to name a few…) and flowers, she could make anything grow, she helped others with their gardens and plants. She loved chatting on the phone with family and friends. She loved reading the Bible, was active in her Chinese church fellowship. She volunteered daily for 10 years at Mon Sheong Home for the Aged, where her husband later lived and where she chose to live her final years. Living at Mon Sheong, she enjoyed taking part in the many programs there and interacting with other residents and staff. Our family will always be grateful for the wonderful care she received at Mon Sheong.
She lived a long and full life, having overcome the many hardships faced by those of her generation. She taught us the importance of hard work, perseverance, patience, and faith. She loved her family and friends, but most of all, she loved and trusted in God. We will see her again in heaven, where she is now with God, her husband, and son, waiting for us.
