Douglas Charles Brunstrom

August 16, 1961 - February 10, 2015

It is with great sadness we share the news of Doug's passing at Dorothy Ley Hospice. Doug was surrounded by his family at death and in life.
Doug was an avid sports fan and could easily rhyme off statistics about almost any team or sport. He enjoyed golf, played baseball as a kid and was an outstanding bowler in his youth.

He was a dedicated employee working for Sobey's, formerly Oshawa Group, for more than 30 years. He was well liked by his colleagues and formed many life long friendships at work.

Doug was dedicated to his family, having cared for his parents even throughout his illness. He will be sorely missed by his entire family. He was an outstanding son to his parent's Charles (Chuck) and Marilynn Brunstrom. He was a great brother to Lynn Hare and Karen Cutler, and brothers-in-law to Blaine Hare and Fraser Cutler. He was Uncle Doug to Luis & Melissa Orozco, Meagan & Grant Semelman, Jesse Orozco and Carolynn Hare, Great Uncle Doug to Luis Orozco and Hailey Semelman.

Doug approached his illness as he approached life; head on with a sense of humour. He went through a great deal of medical intervention and treatment over the last 4 1/2 years and always looked on the bright side and hoped for the best outcome. There were many people involved in Doug's care and we'd like to thank the members of Team Doug from Mount Sainai Hospital, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Trillium Health Centre and Dorothy Ley Hospice. You treated Doug with respect and gave him the courage to continue each and every day.

In lieu of flowers, Doug wished for donations to Dorothy Ley Hospice (www.dlhospice.org) or the Canadian Cancer Society (www.cancer.ca).
