It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Adomako Afriyie. Following a courageous battle with cancer, Dorothy passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026.

Dorothy was deeply loved and is mourned by her three children, Gabrielle, Michael, and Nathaniel. She will also be profoundly missed by Gilbert, her childhood friend and the father of her three children, as well as by her mother, Charlotte, and her extended family in Ghana.

Dorothy’s love, compassion, and unwavering faith will continue to live on through her children, loved ones, and the many lives she touched throughout her community.

As we grieve her loss, we also celebrate the beautiful qualities that defined her life. Her nurturing spirit and caring heart fueled her passion as a nurse. Her resilience and steadfast faith shaped her devotion as a mother, while her kindness and compassion made her a cherished friend and valued member of her community.

In her 47 years, Dorothy lived a beautiful and meaningful life, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, faith, and service. The Family invites, friends, community, and loved ones to celebrate her life on Saturday, August 29, 2026. A viewing and burial service will be held from 9:30am to 12pm at Meadowvale Funeral Centre in Brampton. Later that evening, at 8pm family, church members, and the wider community will gather at the Apostolic Continuation Hall in Toronto to honor her memory and celebrate her life.

Dorothy was actively involved in her church and community, and her faith remained steadfast throughout her life, including in her final days on earth. As Dorothy often reminded her children:
"It is well."
