Breckels, Audrey Doreen (nee Cartwright)
It is with deep sadness that the Breckels family announces the peaceful passing of the family’s matriarch Doreen Breckels on May 14, 2013 at Nisbet Lodge, Toronto. At 96 years young, she lived a full and happy life with a wonderful sense of humour and a lifelong love for both East York and Muskoka.
Her family was her world. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughter, Sandra Mitchell and son, David Breckels, (predeceased by husband Ernie Breckels and son Tom Breckels). She will be greatly missed by her favourite son-in-law Doug Mitchell and loving daughter-in-law Deb Breckels.
She will be especially missed by her adoring grandchildren, Carolyn Griffis, Paula Mitchell, Stephen Breckels (and Holly Deyarmond Breckels), Adam Breckels, Chelsea Breckels and great-grandchildren Amanda Griffis, Mitchell Griffis and Fenway Breckels.
She will be fondly remembered by life-long friend and sister-in-law Shirley Taylor, (predeceased by sister-in-law Helen Cotton), nephews John Cartwright (and Joan Cartwright), Paul Cartwright (predeceased by brother Fred Cartwright and sister-in-law Jeune Cartwright) Jimmy Cotton, niece Joanne Papps and cousin Eileen Walker. She will be sadly missed by many great-nephews and great-nieces and other family members, friends and neighbours she knew and loved.
The Breckels family would like to recognize and thank Glen Moorhouse and the nurses and staff at Nisbet Lodge for their constant care, respect and kindness to our mother while a resident there. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to The Nisbet Lodge-McClintock Manor Foundation, 740 Pape Avenue, Toronto, M4K 3S7 or online.
A small service for family and friends will be held on Sunday, May 26 at 2:00 pm at Mount Pleasant Visitation Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto (east gate entrance, north of St. Clair). Reception to follow.
