It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our sweet boy, Devin, on January 26, 2026. A gentle soul with a warrior’s spirit, Devin went to be with God surrounded by the fortress of love built by his family.
To know Devin was to know a boy who found joy in the grounding, simple things: being in nature, playing video games with his big brother, Rorian, and the comfort of family dinners. He was a devoted animal lover and a budding scientist who spent his time passionately researching Animals and His own Tumor. A faithful heart, Devin loved God and found peace in his spiritual connection.
Devin faced his health challenges with immense courage. Though his journey with DIPG took away his ability to walk and kept him from the school he missed so much, his spirit was never silenced. He worked with incredible determination at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital to regain his balance and vision, proving to everyone the depth of his fight. While his journey was made more complex by autism and anxiety, he faced overwhelming procedures with a special kind of bravery. Through it all, his mom, Robin, was his anchor and fiercest advocate.
Together, Devin and his mom shared a sacred world. Every morning, he would ask, "Mom, what animal are we today?" It was their ritual to transcend the struggle, promising to meet every night in the forest, sometimes as bears, sometimes as birds free from pain and fear.
Devin spent his final weeks at Emily’s House, cherished by Robin, Rorian, and his stepdad, Peter. Even at the end, Devin’s heart was focused on others. In a profound act of advocacy, he chose to donate his brain to the Dr. Cynthia Hawkins Lab at SickKids a decision he researched himself to help other children facing similar battles.
Devin taught us lessons far greater than any textbook holds: lessons about resilience, the power of advocacy, and the enduring love of a family. He is now free to run in the forest, forever our bear, forever our bird.
We ask that all Donations be made to Brain Cancer Canada (https://braincancercanada.akaraisin.com/ui/devin), Emily's House Children's Hospice in East York (https://paceh.ca/?s=Devin+Angelov), in Honor of Devin. Devin is survived by his mother, Robin; his big brother, Rorian; his stepfather, Peter; and his beloved cat Sam.
