Dennis Coulson
February 15, 1926 - April 25, 2014
Sadly, we announce the sudden passing of Dennis Raymond Coulson, peacefully in the early morning hours of April 25, 2014 at The Woodhaven Long Term Care residence in Markham.
Dennis was predeceased by his first wife of 36 years, Christine (nee Gearing), who passed away on April 22, 1983, and leaves behind his wife of 25 years Maureen (Grainger). Loving father to Terry (Lynda) and Denise (John). Adoring Grandad to Leslie (Bobby), Andria (Kevin), Richelle (Corey), Tamara (Brad) and Kristian (Maggie). Great Grandad to James, Patrick, Emma and Daniel.
Born in Thetford, Norfolk, England on February 15, 1926, Dennis was the second son of Bessie and James Coulson and was predeceased by his younger brother Keith, and older brother James, both of England. Dennis was a World War II veteran who was stationed in Africa at the end of the war. He emigrated with his family to Canada on May 28, 1963 aboard the Empress of Canada and settled in Scarborough. By trade, he was a skilled woodworker, an accomplished carpenter and also worked in the retail home improvement industry for Lumberking and RONA. Woodworking was Dennis' passion, but he also enjoyed other interests including bowling, darts, fishing and especially playing cards. Dennis was a long standing member (31 years) of the Royal Canadian Legion, lastly at Branch 345, Scarborough. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends in both Canada and England and fondly remembered for his great wit, sense of humour and repartee.
Many thanks to the Woodhaven staff for their kindness, caring and friendship during the four months that Dennis resided there.
As per his wishes, following cremation, a private interment will take place in the veterans section of Pine Hills Cemetery, and a celebration of life will follow at a later date.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. For online condolences, visit www.mountpleasantgroup.com
And last, but not least, in his own words ………….. TTFN
