With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Demetre (Jim) Tsirbas, who left this
world peacefully on May 14, 2026, at the age of 85. A devoted husband, father,
grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, Demetre's kindness and love will
remain forever in the hearts of all who knew him.

Born on March 6, 1941, in Tripolis, Greece to the late Thanasi Tsirbas and Georgia
Zouzoula, Demetre was raised with strong values of family, faith, and tradition. More than
66 years ago, he came to Canada seeking opportunity and built a life filled with love, hard
work, and cherished memories.

Demetre leaves behind his beloved wife of 66 years, Kostoula Lykouretzos, and their
children Tom (Clara) and Debbie (George). He was a proud papou to four grandchildren
and seven great-grandchildren.

He will be lovingly remembered by his sister Vassio and brothers Nick and Kosta, and
reunited in spirit with his late brother Sam.

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Evangelismos
Tis Theotokou, Saints Nectarios and Gerasimos Greek Orthodox Church, 399
Farewell Street, Oshawa, ON, L1H 6M1.

Interment will follow at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmount Road,
Scarborough, ON, M1K 1R1.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes for donations be made in Demetre's name to The Lakeridge Health Foundation Cancer Centre.
