August 19, 1959 - May 6, 2013
Sloan: Deirdre (Dede)Pamela
“When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight” – Kahil Gibran
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of Deirdre (Dede) Pamela Sloan on Monday May 6, 2013, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Dede was born on August 19,1959 in Toronto, Ontario, the youngest daughter of Shaun and Moira. From a very young age, it was evident that Dede would be a force to be reckoned with. Her tenacity, determination, joie de vivre not only local but international, and compassionate nature was unique and endeared her to everyone she met. Dede was the beloved daughter of Shaun and Moira (deceased) Sloan, devoted mother to Sydney, Maggie and Teddy, loving sister to Siobhan (Bob) Barootes and the best Auntie Mame to Evan, Corey and Drew. Family and friends were Dede's passion. Dede truly never met a stranger. Everyone she met was greeted with enthusiasm, warmth and respect. Those who were fortunate enough to be embraced by her love, generosity, fierce loyalty and charismatic personality will never forget her. Dede's mantra in life was to live every moment as though it were her last. Her huge heart was her compass that guided her throughout her life. She leaves an irreparable hole in the hearts of all of us who loved her. Friends are welcome to a celebration of her life at the Visitation Centre in Mount Pleasant Cemetery 375 Mount Pleasant Road (east gate entrance) on Friday, May 10 from 5-7 p.m. For on line condolences and further information please visit www.etouch.ca
