David Leo Teeuwen was born on January 27, 1975, in Tilsonburg, Ontario.
David passed away at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 18th. At the time, he was teaching his beloved class at Greensborough Public School in Markham, Ontario. He would have turned 51 in January. He passed suddenly due to cardiomyopathy (ruptured aorta).
David is survived by his dear wife of 27 years, Patti (née Koumantaros); his two beloved children, Katy and Christian; his parents, Leo and Connie Teeuwen; his three brothers, Ryan (Marlena), Michael (Diana), and Matthew (Ariel); and his seven nieces and nephews.
He was a public school teacher to Grade 8 students, whom he enjoyed teaching very much. David loved his work. He will be sadly missed by his colleagues, friends, and family. He left us far too early. He was a gentle, calm, and kind man, as well as a talented artist, writer, and voracious reader. His home library filled over six bookcases and reflected his love of many genres of literature.
One of his favourite occupants of his home was Cookie, his cat, who woke him every morning at 5:00 a.m. and kept him company while he read.
Patti’s family is deeply grateful for all the support and kind thoughts they’ve received. In lieu of flowers, any contributions can be directed toward her children, Christian and Katy, to support education costs and life moving forward.
If you’d like to contribute, please e-transfer Patti Teeuwen at teeuwen.patti@gmail.com All past contributions have been received and forwarded from Jennifer Foster to Patti. All the funds have gone directly to support the kids.
Thank you all for keeping the family in your thoughts during this very difficult time.
