Barlow, David Monteagle – Born on June 8, 1937, Dave passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 4, 2026, after a short stay at St. Michael’s Hospital, surrounded by family.
Beloved husband of Ana Maria, and preceded in death by Aurora, Dave was a devoted father to Cristina, Lara (Chris), Philip (Genie), and a loving stepfather to Jimena (Jeremy) and Martin (Ingrid). He was also a cherished grandpa, or Abuelo, to Alex (Andrew), Patrick, Aube, Anselm, and Hannah.
Predeceased by his brother Colin, and sister-in-law Ruth, Dave is survived by his brother Neil (Joyce), his sister Lindsay (Adrian), and sister-in-law Ria, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins around the world.
Born in Surrey, England, to Janet and Harold Barlow, Dave was a professional engineer by trade, emigrating to Canada in 1967 and spending 31 years with TransCanada Pipelines while building his family (and a few barns) in Bradford and Halifax, before retiring in Toronto.
Dave was known for his indefatigable sense of humour and his commitment to community service, including his work with Habitat for Humanity, Bereaved Families of Ontario, and Senior Adult Services (SAS). He enjoyed travelling, sailing, riding horses, eating chocolate, and always “a good Malbec.” He will be remembered lovingly by friends and family in Canada, the UK, Australia, Spain and Argentina.
Friends are invited to attend a celebration of life on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the event room of 300 Bloor St. East, Toronto. The family is grateful for the love and support shown by friends, colleagues and family, and ask that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Parkinson’s Canada.
