It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of David Massey on June 29, 2026 at the age of 85.

David was born on February 3, 1941, in Jabalpur, India, to Harris and Daisy Massey. He is predeceased by his beloved first wife, Jemima Massey his parents Harris and Daisy Massey, his brother Victor Massey, his sister-in-law Evelyn Massey and his middle Son Morgan Massey.

In 1969, David married Jemima Luke and, with remarkable courage and a vision for a brighter future, made the life-changing decision to immigrate to Canada. The following year, Jemima and their young son, Marven, joined him as they began building a new life in Canada together.

A trained chemist by profession, David possessed an inquisitive mind, a quiet strength, and an unwavering work ethic. While his career reflected his intelligence and dedication, his greatest legacy was not found in his profession—it was found in the lives he changed.

David did not simply immigrate to Canada; he built a bridge that allowed two families to cross into a future filled with hope and opportunity. Through his determination, generosity, and selfless commitment to family, he sponsored and helped bring both his own family and Jemima’s family to Canada. Because of his courage, generations of children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family have had the opportunity to build lives in Canada.

His legacy is measured not only by the family he raised, but by the generations whose lives were forever changed because one man had the courage to leave everything familiar behind and begin again. His decision transformed the future of an entire family, creating opportunities that continue to this day.

Later in life, David married Janet Thomas, with whom he shared the last 18 years of companionship.

David was a man of humility, integrity, resilience, and unwavering devotion to his family. He believed that family always came first and demonstrated that belief throughout his life—not through words alone, but through sacrifice, perseverance, and unconditional love. Even during life’s greatest challenges, he never lost his determination to provide for those he loved.

To his family, David will be remembered for his warm smile, his quiet wisdom, his love of music, his unmistakable “Daddy dance,” and the joy he found in simply being surrounded by those he loved. His greatest happiness came not from material things, but from seeing his family together.

David is lovingly remembered by his wife Janet, his sons Marven and Melvin, his grandchildren, extended family, and many dear friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness and generosity.

Though our hearts are broken by his sudden passing, we take comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on in every life he touched. His strength, compassion, faith, and love for family will continue to guide us for generations to come.
