DAVID EDWARD (Dave) KRISKO
Mississauga, ON
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of David Edward Krisko, age 60 years, after a short but valiant battle with pancreatic cancer, on January 4, 2015. David was born in Fort William (later Thunder Bay), Ontario on April 12, 1954, and was the only son of Edward (Ted) and Helen Krisko. After graduating from Thunder Bay schools, Dave embarked on a career as a hotel controller beginning at the Red Oak Inn in Thunder Bay. It was here that Dave met the love of his life, Jane Lukinuk, whom he married in 1980. Together they had two children, John and Beverly. Dave was also an important father figure to his nephew Bradley Sooley. Dave joined CP Hotels in 1975. After the Red Oak Inn he was transferred to the Royal York (Toronto), the Palliser (Calgary) and the Banff Springs (Banff). In 1986, he joined Four Seasons Hotels and worked in Edmonton and Halifax. For the past 15 years, Dave was a well-liked and respected controller of the Valhalla Inn and later The Old Mill. A long-time member of the Hospitality Financial & Technology Professionals (HFTP) Association, Dave also served as President and Past-President of HFTP. Dave will be remembered by all for his wonderful passion for life and his positive attitude. He loved the outdoors including camping and skiing, but his greatest joy and pride was his family. For them, he was an inspiration who was always available with unwavering support. Dave will be missed every day by Jane, his loving wife of 35 years, son John (Katie) and daughter Beverly, nephew Bradley Sooley (Jessica), and cherished sister-in-law Connie Lukinuk of Mississauga. He will be sadly missed by his loving mother Helen Krisko of Thunder Bay and sister Donelda Cavers of Markham; parents-in-law Steven and Lorna Lukinuk of Thunder Bay; and brothers- and sisters-in-law: Crystal and John Parker of London; Timothy and Lori Lukinuk of Thunder Bay; Jennifer and Geoff Cade of London. David was “Uncle Dave” to Steven Cavers (Amy) of Edmonton, Laura Cavers (Markham,Vancouver), Steven Parker (Christina), Travis Parker (Courtney), and Corissa Parker (all of London), Sara and Crystal Lukinuk (Thunder Bay), and Stuart and Elizabeth Cade (London). He was a proud great-uncle to Zachary and Sophia Sooley (London) and Jack Parker (London). Predeceased by his father Ted of Thunder Bay; grandparents Steve and Mary Gluta of Thunder Bay, Annie and Mike Krisko of Angusville, Manitoba; and brother-in-law Brian Sooley of Mississauga. Special thanks to Dr T. Hung, Dr. J. Gapski and the caring and compassionate nursing staff on 6J Oncology at Trillium Hospital, Mississauga. Thank you to family, friends and neighbours for their tremendous support over the past four months. Services for David Edward Krisko will be held at the Meadowvale Cemetery Visitation Centre, 7732 Mavis Road, Brampton. Visitation will be held on Friday January 9, 2015 from 4pm - 9pm, followed by a celebration of Dave’s life on Saturday January 10, 2015 at 11am with luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made in Dave’s honour to the Trillium Health Partners Foundation (Cancer Services) or Canadian Cancer Society (pancreatic cancer). Cremation has taken place; a private family interment will take place at a later date.
We all loved him and say goodbye with tears in our eyes, however, the memories and love in our hearts remain forever.
