David Alexander Clutton passed away at the age of 91, on April 28, 2024 in Scarborough, Ontario.
David was the second child of Alexander Henry Clutton and Amy Adeline Clutton (Spearing) and younger brother of Marilyn Amy Post. Marilyn and David were more than just siblings – they were life-long friends.
David was born September 4, 1932 in Stratford, Ontario.
From an early age David enjoyed mechanical things like bicycles, bikes with motors, go-karts, motorcycles, cars, and outboard boat engines.
David was an outdoors adventurer who enjoyed hiking, camping, canoeing, downhill skiing, waterskiing, scuba diving, windsurfing and much more!
David was a career banker with Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) who worked in many locations both in Canada and beyond including Waterloo; Kirkland Lake; Windsor; Elliott Lake; Kingston, Jamaica; and Toronto. He also spent many years travelling the world as part of an audit team before retiring.
David had many talents and could use both his brain and his hands – the banker and the builder. David was one of the pioneers who built family cottages on the north shore of Big Cedar Lake before there was hydro or road access.
David is survived by his wife Sandra Tyrrell Clutton; his ex-wife Nora Francis Ellen Clutton, son David Andrew (wife Andrea) Clutton; and grandchildren Paige Alexa Clutton (husband James Northway), and Ethan David Ross Clutton; nieces Brenda Lynn Post, Donna Lee Moss, Laura Jean Butcher, and Linda Jane (husband Jeff) Wolfe; and seven great-nieces/nephews; and seven great-great-nieces/nephews; and many cousins including Gavin Lachlan (wife Emily) Clutton, Joyce Elinor (husband Gary) Thomas, Lynne (husband Ron) Palmer, and Jean Machry.
David’s graveside service and interment will take place at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Duffin Meadows Cemetery, Pickering, Ontario. Reception to follow. All are welcome to either or both. To attend the reception, please RSVP by calling 604-267-0124 on or before April 20, 2025.
Donations in lieu of flowers would be appreciated to either Alzheimer Society of Canada or Canadian Cancer Society.
