Constantine (GUS) Tambakis, CPA, CA, CGA

Our precious father left us for a better place on September 9, 2015 in his 85th year. Gus, Costaki, Baba, Spunky, Papou received many nicknames in his lifetime. Nicknames he earned. He was first and foremost a loyal and loving husband to our mother Kitty (Kiki). Kitty and Gus were legendary to all our friends and shared a deep love for each other throughout their 58 years of marriage. He was a protecting and loving father (Baba) to the two of us. Basil Constantine and George John. Always there with his steady calm,His gentleness and sense of humor. He taught us to be fathers and husbands, to be moral and honest. To respect and love our wives and our children. Fatherhood didn’t stop there. He embraced his daughter-in-laws as his own. He became a father 2 more times with Cathy (Basil’s wife) and Suzy (George’s wife). He loved them with a gentle fury. He became a Papou to John, Nathaniel, Luke, Kloe, Paul, and Daphne. His nickname from that time forward changed to Papou. For that was what he had become. The best Papou that any kid could ever wish for. So proud of his grandkids and their accomplishments. He was a loving son and grandson, who adored and took care of his mother Persephone and grandmother Pareskevi throughout their lives. He loved his brother George and was an incredible Theo to so many. He was a proud Chartered Accountant, professionally being VP of Finance at Litton industries and Minolta Canada for over 40 years. He was an extremely loyal friend earning him the nickname Costaki. A nickname he cherished and deserved. Always there for so many. Generous, gentle, empathetic, humble and so very funny. Our home was like a hotel friends and relatives always staying with us. A meeting place. We are deeply grateful and so thankful to Seniors Health Centre at North York Hospital. The staff took care of our father with such love that it was overwhelming. Donations are appreciated and may be directed to Seniors Health Center or the Hellenic Home for the Aged. Visitation will be held on Mon Sept, 14 at 2-4pm and 6-9 pm Funeral will take place on Tues Sept 15, at 11 a.m at Mount Pleasant Visitation Center (375 Mount Pleasant Road, east gate entrance).
