sigue en español...

Conchita passed away peacefully with family and close friends at her side, comforted by the beauty of a cloudless summer morning.
Born in the Canary Islands of Spain, Conchita was the cherished daughter of the late Juan Antonio Aguilar and Doña Concepcion Esponda. At a young age, the Aguilar family moved to Madrid, where Conchita became the protective, and adored older sister of Ana and Belen - from whom she remained inseparable in spirit her entire life.

Conchita came to Canada as a pioneering woman of the airline industry in 1964, where she gained the immediate attention of every person she met with her international flare, independent spirit, and stunning beauty. Throughout her days, Conchita refused to cater to norms and rituals, and set her own course in everything she did, including paving the way for women's rights and equality in the airline industry in the 1970's.

Throughout her life, Conchita's magnetism drew in many, many close friendships all around the world. For Conchita, the friendships she made were a cornerstone of her life, and for her the ultimate source of effervescence and pleasure.

Above all of these accomplishments, Conchita's life's work and legacy is visible in the faces of her surviving family - unconditional loving mother of Paul and Clara, mother-in-law of Tracy and Chris, and doting 'Abuela' of Evan, Ana, Lila and Julia. Conchita's passion, energy, strength, determination, and beauty are carried in the hearts of all of those with whom she has come in contact and loved. We will miss her dearly.

Finally, though we know Mum's love for her garden would make flowers an appropriate gesture at this time, Clara and I encourage a donation to Perram House Hospice as a show of condolence. We were all inspired by the care provided to Conchita in her final moments by the selfless, kind and gentle staff of nurses, doctors and volunteers at Perram. They allowed Mum to pass from this life to the next in the manner of dignity, respect, and peace to which she had become accustomed throughout her life.

In Conchita's words: "Remember me, not my fate - all is well."

...
